Kittens are usually born in my bedroom, and spend their first few precious weeks in relative peace and quiet. I love this special time.
Once they are ready to start litter training, they move to a kitten pen in the kitchen, where they can start to get used to the sights and sounds of a normal family home.
Once they are confidently using the litter tray, kittens are gradually integrated into the rest of the house, where they are played with and cuddled by the whole family. This socialisation time is essential to raising a kitten who is ready to live with a family, and they get used to being handled and played with by lots of different people.
We worm the kittens at 6 weeks with Panacur for 3 days, and then treat them with a prescribed flea and worming treatment called Advocate at 13 weeks old. It is recommended to repeat treatment with Advocate every 1-3 months throughout their lives.
Kittens are fully vaccinated with Fevaxyn Pentofel, and all pet kittens are also neutered before leaving us. This saves their new family from the expense and inconvenience of an operation, prevents unsuitable cats being bred from, and also prevents unwanted litters of kittens.
Once kittens have been fully vaccinated and neutered if applicable, they are 13/14 weeks old and ready for their new family!
